The Birthday Party

The Birthday Party, by Nobel Prize-winning playwright Harold Pinter and directed by Álvaro Viguera, is our next theatrical co-production with Teatro Municipal de Las Condes.

Premiere: January 2027

Stanley is an unsuccessful pianist and the sole lodger in a boarding house. Its elderly owners care for him devotedly, especially Meg, whose affection for Stanley is at once maternal and subtly erotic.

One day, two mysterious strangers arrive and rent the only available room. They seem to be looking for someone. Stanley, perhaps?

When they learn that Meg is determined to celebrate a birthday, they eagerly join in. The fact that it is not actually Stanley’s birthday does nothing to stop the celebration.

As the party unfolds, Stanley’s past begins to surface: the shadow of an uncertain crime, questions of guilt—or innocence—and the haunting experience of exile.
